How's this for fun: freezing bubbles and taking pictures of them. Check out these images, they're great. Thanks to Kazza for sharing this on her blog.
I’ve just signed up for Zooomr, a Flickr like photography service with a few additional features. I’ve only uploaded one picture, the fabulous vista above, as I "figure out" the service. So far I’m liking what I see, but since I’m new to these services, a little more online help would help. (For example, I geotagged the above photo, something I’ve never done before, but messed up. I can’t figure out how to fix the geotag. A bit annoying.) For the record, this picture was taken in western Adirondack Park in New York, not in the Atlantic Ocean as the geotag says! LOL! My fault, not Zooomr’s. Click on the picture for more information and views. Visit my Zooomr account at http://www.zooomr.com/photos/missyisms to see what else I upload.
More information about Zooomr is available here and their blog is available here.
Zooomr has both free and pro accounts. Right now they are offering a free one-year upgrade to a Pro account to bloggers. Zooomr is currently in beta, so I hope it hangs around for the duration! Looking good so far; give it a spin.
Update: I fixed the geotag so it now points to the general location of where I was in Adirondack Park; too bad I don’t know the exact location. But, the good news is, the picture is no longer geotagged to the Atlantic Ocean! That’s a relief.
The world’s largest photograph? And it was taken using the pinhole photography method…very cool.

I started this post the other day and was going to accent it with pictures posted on Flickr, but got foiled in the process. Flickr is now owned by Yahoo!. So to get a Flickr account, you have to sign up for Yahoo!. I have a Yahoo! account, but never use it and it isn’t in the name Missyisms. When I tried to sign up for Yahoo! with Missyisms as the ID, I was told some yahoo had taken that ID.
How rude is that! I don’t want to have a blog with one name and a Flickr account with another. Ugh. So, I’m thinking about ways to get around this. In the meantime, this post was originally about my trip to Chicago on Saturday. It went as follows:
Today I had a flying visit past Chicago’s newest public art. You might have heard of it? The Bean. a.k.a., The Cloud Gate. I’ve posted about it before here, but this was the first time I’ve see the Bean up close and uncovered.
I only had a few minutes, but as it was a beautiful day here in Chicagoland, I managed to get a few pictures I like. It really is amazing just how perfectly reflective it is (see the 2nd image below, the Bean is on the right). Here are a few images, from different angles, "de"optimized for web viewing. (Click for bigger versions.)
Is it just me or isn’t it really, really strange…(continued in the extended post)
The other day I teased you with some "up close" pictures. I think it’s well past time to reveal the answers.
First, in case you’ve forgotten the images, here’s a repeat of the up close pictures:

Even though I did not enjoy driving home in last Friday night’s snow storm, I did enjoy the beauty Saturday morning. While I was outside shoveling, I snapped a few pics. (By the way, my friend E. E. Knight did the same. His pictures are here.) Below and in the extended blog are my pics. I’ve optimized them for the web, so the quality is lowered a bit for improved loading speed.
